There is No Rose

This has been one of my favorite Christmas songs since I sang it back in High School. This song is wonderful in its lyrical form even without the music that it is set to. However, I encourage you to buy a copy of it in its classical choral form here.  Below are the lyrics, enjoy this wonderful holiday season!  Happy Thanksgiving!  and MERRY CHRISTMAS!  Soli Deo Gloria!

There Is No Rose Of Such Virtue

There is no rose of such virtue
As is the rose that bare Jesu;
Alleluia.

For in this rose contained was
Heaven and earth in little space;
Res miranda.

By that rose we may well see
That he is God in persons three,
Pari forma.

The angels sungen the shepherds to:
Gloria in excelsis deo:
Gaudeamus.

Leave we all this worldly mirth,
And follow we this joyful birth;
Transeamus.

Alleluia, res miranda,
Pares forma, gaudeamus,
Transeamus.

*Translations:
res miranda – wonderful thing;
pares forma – equal in form;
gloria in excelsis deo – glory to God on high;
gaudeamus – let us rejoice;
transeamus – let us follow.
